Welcome to The Hill and Beyond

The Hill and Beyond is a podcast by Safari West Zoological Society, started in 2026 to give people a closer look at the animals who call Safari West home, the staff who care for them every day, and the conservation work happening right here on our hill. Safari West is a private African wildlife preserve in Santa Rosa, California, and a nonprofit dedicated to conservation and education. Our guided tours only scratch the surface of what actually goes on behind the scenes, and that's what this podcast is for. Each episode dives into the stories, the science, and the everyday moments that make this place what it is. Jasmine grew up going to Safari West, engaging with a multitude of species as a junior keeper. That early exposure turned into a real career: she's worked as a keeper, now serves as Species Manager and Studbook Keeper for the Ruffed Lemur population with ZAA, and is finishing her Master's in Zoology. Her goal with this podcast is simple: share the animals, people, and projects that make Safari West special with anyone curious enough to listen.
